Being somewhat of a novice to opera, I found this c.d. to have a nice variety and be easy to listen to. I’m not saying it’s the absolute best rendition of every song (which is pretty subjective anyway) but I actually like every piece on it — rare for a compilation. Overall, I’d say it’s great for someone who just likes listening to beautiful music and singing, as well a good jumping off point for those looking for an opera to delve more deeply into. Pretty good for kids and the opera shy as well — nothing too harsh, screechy or challenging. My 2.5 yr old loves it.

This is indeed a marvelous selection of beautiful Opera, both for the beginner and for the well-listened veteran. Pavarotti makes wonderful choices from the world of Opera, and brings it home to the listener. The arias are breathtaking, and are recognizable to nearly all people. This CD is perfect for the listener of any age, and the buyer of this certainly won’t be disappointed!
